Master Student Nguyễn Minh Thư Successfully Defended Master’s Thesis

On August 8, 2024, Master student Nguyễn Minh Thư successfully defended her Master’s thesis titled “Synthesis and Improvement of Electrochemical Performance of LiFePO4 Cathode Material by Using Graphene-Conductive Carbon for Fast-Charge Graphite||LiFePO4 Batteries,” under the scientific supervision of Assoc. Prof. Lê Mỹ Loan Phụng. The average score for the thesis, as agreed upon by the evaluation committee, was 9.78.

In this thesis, LiFePO4/C (LFP/C) and LiFePO4/Carbon/Graphene Nanoribbon (1-5%) (LFP/C/GNR(1-5%)) materials were successfully synthesized via the hydrothermal method using FeSO4·7H2O, LiOH·H2O, H3PO4, glucose, and graphene nanoribbons as precursors. Notably, the LFP/C/GNR(1-5%) materials contain graphene nanoribbon strips that act as tight connectors between LFP/C particles, forming the LFP/GNR material matrix. The presence of GNR enhances the electrical conductivity within the LFP/GNR matrix. Additionally, GNR facilitates electrolyte infiltration into the electrode material, ensuring easy Li+ ion diffusion during operation, especially at high current densities up to 20.0C. These results demonstrate potential applications as a positive electrode (cathode) for fast-charging Li-ion batteries (charging/discharging time under 30 minutes) and contribute to the development of battery/storage systems for electric vehicles.
